FlyByWire Airbus A380 to release on the 31st of October

Get your pilot costumes ready! This Halloween, FBW Simulations is launching the highly anticipated Airbus A380 in an open alpha release.

In this stage, you’ll have access to a range of advanced features to enhance your flying experience. You can expect a fully customized FMS with fms-v2 implementation, support for all ARINC424 leg types (including waypoint sequencing), an accurate MDF F-PLN page, and holding functionality.

The displays are rich in detail, with the Primary Flight Display (PFD), Navigation Display (ND), Engine and Warning Display (EWD), and System Display (SD) all featuring precise MEMOs for multiple systems. An electronic checklist is included for standard and some abnormal procedures, along with QNH pre-selection in the FCU. Features like Brake to Vacate (BTV) and Runway Overrun Warning/Protection (ROW/ROP) will be available, plus an Onboard Airport Navigation System, GPWS, terrain display, and A380-specific animations.

The model will also include tilting landing gear with realistic nose and body wheel steering, plus a heading control function (HCF) for smooth taxi operations, countering crosswinds or slope automatically.

FlyPadOS v3 is also part of the release, allowing throttle calibration, payload control, and refueling. Default ground services support will be included, with preliminary GSX support possibly arriving shortly after.

You can download the FlyByWire Simulations A380X from the installer on October 31, 2024. Like the A32NX, it will be open for community development.
